Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Office of the Chief Technical Officer
Scope of work
Zolon was selected to support DS CTO’s adoption of mobile device technology. Our mission was to evaluate several mobile device management tools and present strengths, weaknesses and the compatibility ratio of smartphones.
Zolon utilized the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Mobile Device Management software for selection of the best MDM platform and security solutions that included studies of challengers, leaders, niche players and visionaries. In only a few months, Zolon delivered an MDM strategy for DoS that included MS Exchange 2010, MS Server 2008 Active Directory and BlackBerry Enterprise Server 10.1.2; provided an estimated annual MSRP cost for 50 device licenses, scalable to 20,000 devices; email filtering; and application management and content management to help determine the comprehensive implementation cost.
Zolon’s recommendation was accepted as the enterprise solution for the entire State Department. Zolon is currently working with other DS contractors, with government oversight, to design and develop the architectural design and pilot DoS MDM solution. In addition to the MDM initiative, Zolon’s mobile device maintenance and management support extends to all mobile devices (cellphones, tablets and laptops) required by the Security of States Guard Detail. Support includes configuring, managing and administering a heterogeneous enterprise of devices operating on Windows (Pro), Android (v4.1 and above), Apple (iOS 6.1.3 and above) and BlackBerry (OS10) platforms.
